Contrast Hydrotherapy at True Vitality
A powerful hot-and-cold wellness experience
At True Vitality, our contrast hydrotherapy experience combines a 7-minute cold plunge followed by 30 minutes in a warm hot tub.
This structured hot-and-cold therapy is designed to support relaxation, recovery, circulation awareness and overall wellbeing. The changing temperatures provide a stimulating yet restorative experience that encourages you to connect with your body and take time for intentional self-care.
“The cure for anything is salt water: sweat, tears or the sea.”

Phase 1: The Refreshing Cold Plunge
Phase 2: Warm Water Relaxation
Ritual: Holistic Wellbeing
What is contrast hydrotherapy?
Contrast hydrotherapy uses alternating temperature experiences to create different physical sensations in the body.
Your session begins with a 7-minute cold plunge, followed by 30 minutes of warm-water relaxation in the hot tub. The cold water provides a refreshing and invigorating experience, while the warm water helps the body relax afterwards.
The treatment is guided according to your comfort level and personal wellness goals.
Potential benefits of contrast hydrotherapy
Contrast hydrotherapy may support:
- Relaxation and stress management
- Temporary comfort for tired or tense muscles
- Physical recovery after exercise or daily activity
- A refreshed and revitalised feeling
- Body awareness and mindful breathing
- Feelings of circulation and warmth after the hot-tub phase
- Temporary relief from feelings of stiffness
- Mental alertness following the cold-plunge phase
- Rest and emotional wellbeing
- A positive and energising self-care routine
The cold-water phase may feel stimulating and invigorating, while the warm-water phase provides an opportunity for relaxation and comfort. Many clients enjoy the contrast between the two experiences and the refreshed feeling afterwards.
Support during the cancer journey
At True Vitality, contrast hydrotherapy may be considered as a complementary wellness experience for individuals living with cancer or recovering from cancer treatment.
Our focus is on supporting relaxation, comfort and emotional wellbeing—not on replacing medical treatment. Where considered suitable by the client’s healthcare team, the warm-water phase may provide a calming environment for rest and relaxation, while the overall experience may support:
- A peaceful break from treatment-related routines
- Relaxation before or after medical appointments
- Emotional wellbeing and personal self-care
- Temporary comfort for general muscle tension
- A sense of renewal and refreshment
- Mindful breathing and body awareness
- A positive wellness routine during recovery
- General comfort and quality-of-life support
Because cancer and cancer treatments can affect the body in different ways, each session should be approached individually and only undertaken with appropriate guidance from the client’s oncologist or treating healthcare professional.
